On the third day there was a wedding in Cana in Galilee, and Jesus' mother was there. Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When they were out of wine, Jesus' mother said to him, "They do no have any wine." (John 2:1-3) Mary trusted that Jesus could do something to help. She confidently approached him and simply stated a fact: "They do not have any wine." This is how we should approach Jesus, too, whenever we come to him in prayer: Just tell him what we lack, how we hurt, what is wrong, and then trust him to provide. At the wedding in Cana Jesus reveals his glory by doing just that: 1) providing for our physical needs, and 2) providing for our spiritual needs.
